An unfurnished two-bedroom apartment on the fifth floor of a mid-2000s block a short walk from Üsküdar square, available on a twelve-month contract. The flat is plain and in good condition: white walls, laminate floors, a fitted kitchen with oven and hob, and a glazed balcony off the living room that is usable year-round. Both bedrooms take a double bed. There is a lift and a building caretaker, and one parking space can be made available at additional monthly cost. The reason to take this apartment is the transport. Üsküdar is the interchange where the M5 metro terminates and Marmaray runs under the Bosphorus, which puts Sirkeci and Yenikapı on the historic peninsula within a few minutes and Kadıköy a short ride south; ferries to Eminönü, Karaköy and Beşiktaş leave from the pier a few minutes further on. For a tenant working on the European side but wanting Asian-side rents, this is about as efficient a base as the district offers.
